Romp Along

I use MAC Charcoal Brown daily as a brow filler, but I’ve never actually used it in on my lid as an eyeshadow!  Today, I thought I’d test it out and do a smoky brown look.  I also found out it has a very similar base color to Romp, although Romp has shimmer and Charcoal Brown doesn’t.

Singin’ the Brown Blues

MAC’s Club eyeshadow is not one that I find myself reaching for often.  Partly because it’s not as pigmented as I wish it were and partly because I find it hard to pair with other colors. Nonetheless, I thought I’d be brave and do a light-handed smoky eye look and play up its neutral brown hue.

Antique Bronze

I wore this look out on “date night’ with my fiancé last night.  His favorite eyeshadow color on me is purple, but he pretty much loves anything smoky.  I wanted to do a look that’s really popular on the runways this Fall — a brown shadow worn all around the eye with a natural lip.

After a tough exam last Thursday, I thought I’d revive myself a bit and lay off the “neutral” eye palette I’ve been using.  The solution?  A semi-smoky, notice-me, purple shadow look!

Subtle Drama

I’ve been watching some Beauty School videos on Vogue’s website lately and I find myself inspired to recreate runway make-up looks that are everyday-wear-friendly.  The first look is from a Spring fashion show and was created by the famed Pat McGrath.  Lily Donaldson was her muse and the look featured some key elements:  soft, smoky browns with Bronze shimmer in the center of the lid only, a mostly bare face, and soft pink lips.
