Not So Gloomy Grey

2 Jan

It’s a known fact that grey shadow makes brown eyes look more brown.  Here, I’ve tested this theory for myself and loved the daytime-safe semi-smoky look.  These photos were taken at the end of the day, so the crease is a bit smudged.

Brushes you’ll need:

– MAC #’s 214 (short shader brush), 217 (blending brush), 242 (shader brush), 222 (tapered blending brush), Small Angle Brush (263), and 116 (blush brush)

Products you’ll need:

– MAC Eyeshadows in Blanc Type, Soft Brown, Copperplate, Satin Taupe, and Smut
– MAC Paintpot in Painterly
– MAC Powder Blush in Dame
– MAC Lipsticks in Hug Me
– MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack

Supplemental: – A brow-filling productMascara

Eyes…

[* Cover the entire lid from below the brow to the lash line with Painterly using your finger.
[* Apply Blanc Type to hightlight the area underneath the brow bone (217).
[* Apply Soft Brown to the entire lid up to the highlight color (242).
[* Apply Copperplate to the crease and outer V (222).
[* Darken the outer V with a small amount of Smut (222).
[* Adding more of the highlighting mixture onto your brush, blend them & the colors at the crease together (217).
[* Line the upper lash line with Blacktrack (263).

[* Line the bottom lash line with Satin Taupe (242).

Cheeks…

[* Apply Dame to the apples of the cheeks and blend upward and outward toward the hairline (116).

Lips

[* Nude out lips, but leave them with a hint of pink using Hug Me.

Additional finishing steps: [Fill in eyebrows using MAC’s #208 Angled Brow brush and MAC Eyeshadows in Charcoal Brown and Espresso], [Tame unruly brows using MAC Brow Finisher in Clear], and [Darken lashes using MAC’s Plushlash mascara in Plushblack].
